Scholarship competition 2020
Fusion Dance Fest Scholarship Video Competitions - Video Requirements:
To be eligible for the competitions you must have already applied via the 2020 Application Form - The video must be at least 16 bars of dancing in heavy or light shoes and no longer than 1 minute.. For copyright reasons we strictly can’t post videos using any popular music on our Facebook page unless we have permission, which is a shame but it’s also a good chance to be creative and thinking of ways to make the video more shareable.
Your options are to dance Acapella without any music at all and just the sound of your rhythms, create your own music, or include live musicians to accompany you like a fiddle player, drummer and/or singer for example. Here is a playlist of some 2019 entries to use as an example of how this can be done: 2019 SCHOLARSHIP VIDEO EXAMPLES
For our 2020 competition we will launch a competition each time we get 10 entries, the videos will be posted exactly 24 hours apart. Each video will have 1 week to get as many views as possible, after the last video has been online for 1 weeks we will then announce the winner (from amount of views/ not likes or shares). For every scholarship competition we will be awarding 300 Euro deduction from one person's ticket and of course gaining the titles of 2020 Scholarship Winners!
As the aim is to gain the most views, we would suggest thinking about making the video somewhere outside of your dance studio & getting creative in how it's presented. There are really no boundaries with the video, it could feature a musician or band, have a theme, be in fancy dress, it could be a pop up performance where people are surprised, dancing somewhere really unique or funny, you can talk and act in front of the camera, it can feature family, friends, pets, musicians or simply just be you dancing and no gimmicks.. Think about your outfit/ costume.. There are limitless possibilities.. Research some viral videos and think about what made them so popular! Any type of video cameras and microphones are allowed but if filming on a smart-phone, please film in horizontal (sideways so full screen when uploaded). The higher quality the settings are on the camera, the better.. If filming heavy shoes, then find flooring where you can hear the beats clearly, like on a wooden floor. Some dance studios and places indoors create echoes which is why I recommend to dance outside on a piece of wood if you can. It is permitted to edit the video, multiple angles etc if you wish and add in any production you want! Please send to us using Dropbox, Google Drive or We Transfer to ensure the HD video quality is not affected.
Think big when promoting.. as well as sharing with friends and family we recommend to reach out to the big media sites as well as local pages/ media in your community who might post your video on their FB or website. They may be more likely to share if you tell them about Fusion Fighters/ Fusion Dance Fest and the scholarship prize and title at stake.
Have fun with it and if you have any questions just let us know!
Have fun making it and we're looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
